These are the questions our spiritual community will be asked as we co-create our future—where together we will make a greater difference in our world.  Join us for a collective journey using the practice of spiritual discernment to discover our new shared mission, vision and values for Spiritual Life Center. The answers lie in your heart and the heart of Spiritual Life Center.

Everyone is invited to participate in the visioning activities sponsored by the Vision Quest Leadership Team.  The Vision Quest Milestones listed below culminate on November 1, 2008 which is Spiritual Life Center’s 10th anniversary.

Key Milestones

March 16 – Vision Quest Project Launch:  Our Vision Quest journey is announced on Palm Sunday, the beginning of Passion Week, leading up to Easter. Signups begin for Discernment Facilitators or Home Hosts who will gain the necessary skills to create a sacred environment for our community as we journey together.  Additional information is available in Fellowship Hall.  COMPLETE

Vision Quest Informational Meetings are being held for those interested in becoming Discernment Facilitators or Home Hosts.  You will hear more details about Vision Quest and better understand:
What is Spiritual Discernment?
What would my role be?
How can I use these skills in my personal life?

Join with us and discover the answers to these and any other questions you might have about this exciting project.  After the meeting if you are interested in participating, you are encouraged to sign up for “The Art of Sacred Listening Retreat.”  Vision Quest Informational Meetings are scheduled as follows:

          March 26 (Wednesday) at 5:30 p.m., SLC, 24th & K
          March 30 (Sunday) at 10:00 a.m., Pioneer Parlor

April 13 – Sunday Visioning Lesson Series Begins:  Join us on Sundays as Rev. Michael talks about the power of vision for your own personal life, while at the same time creating the consciousness through which Spirit will reveal the vision for our beloved church community.  COMPLETE

April 18-20 – “The Art of Sacred Listening” Vision Quest Discernment Facilitators Retreat/Training held at Granlibakken Resort, Tahoe City:  The Vision Quest Leadership Team and Discernment Facilitators will gather at beautiful Lake Tahoe for a time of deep reflection, training and preparation.  COMPLETE 

June 1-22 – Church-wide Visioning Discernment Sessions:  Discernment Facilitators will lead in-home small group sessions to receive input from everyone, share creative energy, and spiritual discernment as Spirit reveals its vision through us.

July 1-15 – Outside Partner/Community Surveys:  Assessing the impact SLC has in our local community of interfaith friends, neighbors and the organizations we support with our tithes and volunteer projects.

July 15-30 – Congregational Survey:  Assessing the health of our ministry based on key elements for congregational growth and vitality.

July/August – Data Consolidation/Summarization:  The Vision Quest Leadership Team will review the summarized information using spiritual discernment once again to listen for the voice of Spirit and develop a deep understanding for all information that has been offered by Vision Quest participants.

August/September – SLC Board of Trustees Develops Vision, Values and Strategic Planning Draft:  The Board will be presented with the information from the Vision Quest Leadership team. The Board will prayerfully work together to create the proposed mission, vision and values statement using the inspired words/messages from the congregation and our community partners. The proposed statement will be shared with the congregation to receive feedback which will be incorporated.

September/October – Faith-In-Action Book Study Series and Unity Asilomar Retreat:  A break in the vision quest action for other important activities.
 
November 1, 2008 – SLC 10th Anniversary Birthday Party:Spiritual Life Center’s final shared mission, vision, values and strategic plans for 2009 will be presented.  We will celebrate our shared commitment to an exciting, inspiring future--the next 10 years of God’s will expressing through SLC!
