WHO WE ARE
Building Committee
The
Building Committee is to serve SLC by providing analysis of potential
properties that could be used for expansion and provides advice
to the Senior Ministers and the Board of Trustees.
Building
Committee – Structure and Membership Requirements
The Committee Chairperson is appointed by the Senior Minister.
The appointment may be reviewed annually at the discretion of
the Senior Minister.
- There shall
be a minimum of five (5) members on the Bulding Committee.
- Each member
shall be an active participant in the life of SLC and be an
official member. Special consideration may be given if an individual
becomes a member with three months of joining the Finance Committee.
- Each member
must express a willingness to serve and fulfill the mission
of SLC and this committee.
- Each member
shall tithe of their time, talent, and resources.
- The chair
of the committee shall be a designated Board Member who will
choose members with consensus of the committee. The length of
term for members shall be one year, with extensions determined
by the specific skills needed in any particular year. The Senior
Minister of Operations shall be a member of this committee.
- Meetings
shall be held monthly or as needed for special projects.
- Minutes
of the Building Committee shall be submitted to the Board of
Trustees and Senior Minister of Operations within one week of
each Finance Committee meeting.
- It is understood
that confidentiality is expected regarding the privileged financial
information discussed regarding the church, as well as that
of any individual/family within the congregation.
SLC
asks that Building Committee members make a one-year commitment
to participate as a team member and willingly adheres to the SLC
Working Agreements.
Suggested
selection criteria for Building Committee Members:
- Active
members of SLC congregation
- Believe in SLC Vision and Mission
- Actively participate in financially supporting SLC
- Want to serve in this capacity – workers, not talkers!
- Possess the potential to be an SLC board member—chance to
look at them in action
- Have the skill sets that are needed on the committee
- Demonstrate a prosperity consciousness
- Mix of personalities—not all the same and lacking diversity
