Why am I here at Spiritual Life Center?

Suzanne Joy-Livingston: Jerry and I started coming to SLC in early 1999. Since we started coming here, I think it is fair to say we live an abundant life – we travel, we golf, we entertain, we play. We have the most amazing friends and an ever-loving family! It’s funny though - we are both sort of retired and probably bring in less money than we used to. I’d like to be able to explain to you where it all comes from, but I don’t really know. What I do know is that, since we began tithing 8 years ago, we are more prosperous than we have ever been. Even when I get into my fear and think we have reached our limit, we have always been able to find a little bit more when it is needed. Our lives are so blessed by this community an extra $36/month from each of us seems a very small price to pay.

I encourage each of you to take a close look at your own lives – do you feel more prosperous? Are you happier? Is your job a little less stressful? Are you healthier? Maybe you’ve found the courage to take some big step in your life, either professionally or personally?

For me, all of these things have come to pass. Jerry used to tell me, “This is your church; you cannot fail.” At first, I didn’t really get that. But something happened – suddenly I was able to do things I’d never done before: I joined the choir; I even wrote a book! I had no idea I could do that! It seems I do everything with more confidence, with more grace. And so do you! Why is that? I believe it is because this community wraps its arms around each of us and is there to support us in anything we want to do. I am so grateful.

So think about your own lives and how much you have to be grateful for. Join me in contributing thirty-six extra dollars a month to support this church and your spiritual family. If the idea of tithing is new to you like it was to me, a $36 a month commitment might be the perfect way to get your feet wet. And the reward is priceless!
