WHO WE ARE
Tithing Committee
The
Tithing Committee’s mission is to seek out, evaluate and
recommend to the Board of Trustees, organizations that are worthy
of financial gifts that house, clothe, feed, educate and protect
those in need.
Tithing
Committee Structure and Membership Requirements
The Committee Chairperson is appointed by the Senior Minister.
The appointment may be reviewed annually at the discretion of
the Senior Minister.
- Official
members of the church or willing to become a member within 3
months of joining the Committee.
- Willing
to serve and commit to fulfilling the mission of the Committee.
This usually entails 3 to 4 hours per month.
- Willing
to actively practice the spiritual principle of tithing for
the duration of the term of service on the tithing committee.
One
member may be a teen representative whose parent(s) is a member
of the church.
SLC asks that Tithing Committee members make
a one-year commitment to participate as a team member and willingly
adheres to the SLC Working Agreements.
Suggested selection criteria for Tithing Committee
Members:
Active members of SLC congregation
Believe in SLC Vision and Mission
Actively participate in financially supporting SLC
Want to serve in this capacity – workers, not talkers!
Possess the potential to be an SLC board member—chance to
look at them in action
Have the skill sets that are needed on the committee
Demonstrate a prosperity consciousness
Mix of personalities—not all the same and lacking diversity
