SERVICES AT SLC
Easter Season
Join
us for our annual Easter season activities with our beautiful
and contemplative Ash Wednesday Service. We experience
the beginning of Lent with a burning bowl and a special Phoenix
Rising Ceremony, followed by a healing circle held on Wednesday
evening at 6:45 p.m. at SLC, 24th & K.
Palm
Sunday Services begins Passion Week or the “Week
That Changed the World.” The events that Jesus set in motion
created a story that continues to amaze and mystify us over two
thousand years later. During this week Jesus experienced every
emotion possible, great love, soul rattling fear, disappointment,
abandonment, and finally the peace that passes all human understanding.
It's a story that holds the "true secret" to life for
each of us.
Holy
Week Communion Service begins by sharing in spiritual
communion as well as using the physical elements for those who
would like to participate in the ancient ritual of breaking bread
together. This simple and beautiful service is designed to fill
our thoughts and feelings with a stronger realization of the presence
of love in our hearts and in this place that will help connect
you with your SLC family and the profound events of this sacred
week.
We
come together for God's Friday to commemorate
the victory of the Christ Spirit over even the most horrific conditions.
We will light the Christ candle to symbolize the everlasting light
that shines within all of us. Our drama team will enact one of
the most dramatic moments in history, the dramatic presentation
of Jesus’ last hours ... a day where a shift took place
in the consciousness of the world. The Ministry team will share
with us the Seven Last Words of Jesus which provides
a clear model for us to follow as we face our own trials. This
is the most reflective and touching service we offer each year.
Easter
Celebration Services are held at Pioneer Church and the
sanctuary is filled with the joyous sounds of Easter as we celebrate
victory of life over death and faith over fear. Be sure to join
us as SLC bursts forth in joyful celebration of the risen Christ
Light in each one of us. An Easter Egg Hunt is
held after the second service at Sutter’s Fort Park.
