VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Music and Arts
The
SLC music and arts ministry is comprised of many parts, each one
an important and dynamic spoke within the music ministry wheel.
Here is a list of the many ways our music ministry is making a
difference.
SLC
Choir
The SLC choir has been recognized on the "Sacramento's Best
Church Choir" list for two years running. A warm and loving
community of singers, with all levels of experience, joining voices
and hearts to offer inspirational music to all who come to hear.
Choir meets on Tuesdays from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at 24th & K.
The
Soul Light Connection Music Team
A talented and dedicated group of musicians that plays most Sunday
services at SLC. The band’s versatility and professionalism
brings a joyful surprise to each Sunday Celebration.
SLC
Soloists
SLC also proudly presents a number of equally talented soloists
on Sundays and at our Wednesday night Spiritual Renewal service
who are part of the community as well as featured local and touring
recording artists.
Small
Ensembles
At any one of our regular services or social events you might
hear a variety of small ensembles comprised of members of our
choir and congregation or our mixed quartet featured at our Taize
services. You can also expect to hear jazz, African drumming,
R&B, Dixieland, or even Bluegrass from time to time.
Dances
Twice a year our music team puts on a dance featuring a variety
of music from the 40's to the current hits. The dances usually
occur around St. Patricks Day and Halloween.
Second
Saturday Concert and Art Series
Fun for the whole family! Every second Saturday, SLC joins Sacramento’s
Midtown artwalk with music, poetry, drama, and art from our very
own talented congregation. Check the SLC Event
Calendar for additional information.
Drama
Whether
it be Christmas, Easter, Fall or Lenten time you can always count
on the drama ministry to add a little icing to the spiritual and
artistic cake. Our drama ministry anchors our Sunday messages
and the messages of the world's great religious teachers at various
times during the year. Writing most of our own pieces, we create
real life situations that bring the spiritual concepts even closer
to home.
