Often described as the heart of Spiritual Life Center, our Music Ministry supports and deepens the spiritual vibration of our services and special events through the universal language of music. Passionate and playful, our musicians perform an eclectic selection from gospel to rock, jazz to classical. Our spirited choir performs once per month while prominent local soloists and touring artists grace other services. Our mission is to spread joy and inspiration!
Director of Music & Arts Ministry
Paula Mandella is a world-class musician and composer who has been playing keyboard professionally for many years. Her early career spanned everything from festival tours, musical theater, and nightclubs, touring throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Africa and the Caribbean. She collaborated with renowned artists from each of those countries. Blending her classical and jazz roots with world music experiences, Paula brings an exciting versatility to her stage presence. The birth of her son led her to teach music in the Waldorf School, inspired by the anthroposophy of Rudolf Steiner. In 2003 she found the Unity Movement, and began serving as Director of Music & Arts Ministry at the Spiritual Life Center in Sacramento, California, where she continues to expand and unfold her gift of music.

Ann Roach offers the gift of her crystal voice with exquisite emotion that is always sure to be a soul stirring experience of beauty in its purest form. Her charisma is captivating, and her heart is as big as her talent. Ann’s skillfullness and professionalism make her a highly sought vocalist for all types of occasions. Lejon Walker has served as SLC's Choir Director since the fall of 2013, after several occasions as guest conductor and soloist. Lejon grew up singing in church, and from his gospel roots crossed into R&B, pop, hip hop, and jazz, touring with top names in the music industry. His multifaceted talent and strong sense of harmony translate exquisitely into the role of Choir Director as he demonstrates and draws out the heart and soul of music through the choir members. Whether conducting the choir or appearing as a soloist, Mr. Walker is a luminary on the platform!

A talented and dedicated group of musicians that shares its musical talent at The Sunday Experience, and many events held throughout the year at SLC. The band’s versatility and professionalism brings a joyful surprise to each musical experience.
Percussion & Vocals
John has been playing drums, percussion, and singing at SLC for 16 years. Previously he was a touring musician for 18 years before settling down and focusing on family and expanding his abilities in a wide variety of musical projects. Bass & Guitar
In addition to traditional guitar sounds, Stephen Sullivan (a.k.a. Sven), utilizes the guitar synthesizer and effects to expand the sound palette of Soul Light Connection. After moving to Sacramento from the Bay Area, Sven has been and continues to be part of the downtown scene in many musical endeavors.
Paul has been an active electric bassist throughout northern California since 1982, playing a wide variety of styles and genres locally and abroad. Along with bringing his mastery and creativity to the SLC Music Ministry, Paul currently plays with the notable Sacramento based Latin jazz ensemble Nagual and jazz group Ice Age Jazztet along with multiple collaborative projects.
Twice honored as the “Best of Sacramento Church Choir,” the SLC choir is a vibrant family of all ages and skill levels. We love to sing and to use our collective voice to open the hearts and minds of those who hear us. We are a dedicated group that welcomes everyone who has the desire to make a joyful noise.
