How to Set Your Child up for College Success Early On

Face it: you think your kid is the smartest, most perfect student who ever walked the school hallways. We are in the heart of the Silicon Valley high-tech region. Intel, Hewlett-Packard, Cisco Systems and Lockheed-Martin are our neighbors. We're also just a one-hour drive from beautiful San Francisco and 45 minutes from the sunny Pacific Ocean beaches. Our college opened in 1976 and has a student body of 11,000 students including 200 international students.

Mission College is a member of the 132-campus California Community College system. Our college is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and our intensive English program is accredited by the American Association of Intensive English Programs (AAIEP).

It’s normal to want your child to succeed in school and progress to college, but you probably didn’t realize there’s a right way to make that happen.

Here are four activities you can do with your child to promote academic success early on in his or her life. By helping your child develop a strong mind early on, you’ll be setting him or her up for many future academic and collegiate successes.

Use Your Gift of Gab

Those adorable sounds your baby is making are really her attempts to communicate with you. Transfer students must also submit the Transfer Clearance Verification form. The $100 fee will be applied towards the first semester's tuition and fees.

Acknowledging that communication of some sort has happened shows that talking is a social activity, which positively reinforces that behavior and leads to better communication skills later on in life. San Diego City College is located in the heart of dynamic and growing downtown San Diego. It is within minutes of the Pacific Ocean and sandy beaches; approximately 30 minutes north of the Mexican border; close to major attractions such as Sea World, Old Town, and Balboa Park, which is home to the assignment writing help city's best museums and the world famous San Diego Zoo.
