Josie Latiker Johnson has attended SLC for 20 years and currently serves as the Board of Trustees Vice President, Welcome Committee Chair, as a Heart-to-Heart Conversation Facilitator, Sunday Greeter, and part of SLC's Ambassador program. In her career life, Josie worked for Sacramento County as an Information Technology Manager directing over 30 employees and keeping a network up for over a thousand users. Josie's leadership style is to make rules and mission known, and then help people achieve what is theirs to do. She believes in treating everyone with dignity and respect. Josie is retired and lives in Sacramento and loves reading, traveling, and walking in the park with her husband Tom.

Claudia Norton-Tolbert is a founding board member of Spiritual Life Center and has served on numerous volunteer positions over the past 24 years. She was appointed to serve on the Board again in 2021 and is currently the Facilities Committee Chair, Board Liaison to the Evolutionary Council Steering Committee, facilitator for SLC's Wellness Calls, Lead Sunday Usher and a Welcome Committee member. Claudia is a full-time real estate agent and interior home designer/stager. Her love of making spaces beautiful bleeds into her designs to make beautiful from things from her own closet. Claudia met her husband Dallas, who rebuilds classic cars, at SLC over 20 years ago. They live in Elk Grove and are quite active in their car club.


Carole Mercer has attended SLC since 2000 and is currently the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee Co-Chair. Carole has served on SLC's Finance Committee for 3 years. Her career includes over 20 years with CalPers first as a Senior Investment Accounting Officer and later as an Accounts Payable Officer. Carole currently serves on SLC's Women of Spirit Leadership Council, the Welcome Committee, is a Heart-to-Heart Conversation Facilitator, and a Mid-Week Soup and Salad volunteer. Carol has volunteered in the community as Healing Journey Administrative Assistant, Elk Grove Friends of the Library Board, and as Cosumnes River College Patron Club Board President, Treasurer, and Fundraising Chair. Carol currently lives in Rocklin with her husband Rick.

Patrick Furlong has attended SLC since 2018 and has been a Sunday Usher for several years and a speaker for Men of Spirit. Patrick still works in investment real estate and has strong finance, marketing, communication, and organizational skills. He is currently on the board for the Fair Oaks Rotary and teaches a healthy aging class. Patrick has also been a board member of multiple Rotary Clubs for over 20 years, and was Treasurer for the USC Fresno Alumni Club. Patrick seeks to understand, listen, and compromise in working environments, and uses his experience in consultation to create better working dynamics. He is single and has 4 adult children, 3 who also live in the Sacramento area.

Tracie Stafford is founder and CEO of Stafford Consulting Group. A Social Sustainability Scientist by trade, she draws from lived experience with poverty, abuse and discrimination coupled with a graduate degree in sustainability leadership to develop inclusive business cultures that thrive long term. Tracie has served on 29 boards of charity and state organizations, including the SMUD Advisory Committee, and the California Partnership to end domestic violence. She also is chair of the board for the Democratic Party of Sacramento County. Tracie wants to give back to SLC after having been an on and off member since 2004, and a permanent member for 3 years. She believes in creating fun, collaborative, and strategically minded workspaces. She lives in Elk Grove with Bryan her husband of 26 years.

Donna Sturla has been a Unity student since 1983, when she first attended services at Christ Unity in Sacramento. In 1998, Donna was a founding member of Spiritual Life Center present at the first SLC service at the Radisson Hotel with Rev. Michael and Rev. Faith Moran. Donna's biggest contribution to SLC has been in Music Ministry as a member of SLC's Choir. She has also participated in numerous events, dances, and Cabarets to fundraise for SLC. In her career, Donna was the Educational Audiologist for the Special Education Department of Sacramento City Unified School District. After retiring from the School District she sold Real Estate for ten years. Donna has been fully retired the past four years and looks forward to being a more active member of SLC.
