Some Unity leaders and teachers have commented that Buddhism is the “second favorite” religion among New

Thought people. Meditation and mindfulness are among many ideas and practices from Buddhism that have

found a growing home in Unity and America in general. We have so much to learn from our Buddhist friends.

In-person at Spiritual Life Center:

2201 Park Towne Circle, Sacramento, CA 95825

More about our guests:

Anton Mizerak is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who plays tabla, harmonica, synthesizers and piano. Anton is literate in Sanskrit, with an M.A. in the History of Religions. He has an intimate understanding of Asian spiritual and musical traditions, and his music reflects his cross-cultural musical experimentation, combining harmonica and synthesizers with traditional Asian melodic and percussive instruments. Anton lives and records in Mount Shasta, California. His many recordings reflect his extensive travels, his love of the natural world, and his desire to impact the world in a positive way through music. He studied tabla (classical Indian drums) in Kathmandu, Nepal, with Homnath Upadhyaya, renowned royal court musician.

Vocalist Laura Berryhill is at home in a variety of musical styles, from early European music, to Celtic folk music, to new age and jazz. She performs and records with numerous groups of various styles, and performs extensively with new age recording artist Anton Mizerak. She serves as co-music director and staff musician at a number of Unity and Centers for Spiritual Living communities in Northern California. Laura is also writing and recording a new album of songs.

How these colors were chosen:

Gold (or bright yellow) in Mahayana traditions, represents the virtues of the Buddha, the earth, and the "Middle Way" of moderation and wisdom.

Saffron-colored robes are worn by Theravada monks to symbolize detachment from material desires and a commitment to the monastic order.
