#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. It is an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

As you know, SLC has been affected by the Coronavirus too. Each week, staff and the Board have been closely analyzing our donations and having special budget meetings to stay on top of changing circumstances. As we remain in a consciousness of abundance, circumstances sometimes occur that we have no control over. What we are currently experiencing is one of those times.

For us to remain as good stewards of SLC finances we must address the possibility of a budget gap for 2020. With the quarantine restrictions on services and events, we can say that as of April 21, 2020 we are uncertain about $55k of our total operating income for the year. The potential $55k gap is mostly loss in net income from cancelled events, classes, etc., and potential loss of unrestricted offerings based on current giving trends.

 

SLC is committed to providing you our Sunday services online, as well as regular meditations, W.O.W. Wednesday programs, and small group connections. We believe that our community will grow stronger during this time and we, together, can help to reduce anxiety, worry, and any sadness that this situation has caused. As Rev. James says, “We all have a power within us that is more potent than the circumstances we face.”

 

We are grateful for each and every one of you. We love and accept you just as you are, no exceptions. Thank you all for continuing to support our mission to transform lives. Let’s come together to drive a spike of generosity, understanding, and support for our community. Not only is funding needed for our programming, but we need to continue to pay our incredible staff that we are so blessed to have, and we want our Community Giving program (which is needed even more now) to move forward and support those who need uplifting.
